Since the 1600s, nothing is more American than immigration. The first colonies were founded by immigrants, our democracy was dreamed of by the children of immigrants, our greatest shame is rooted in the forced migration of African slaves, and our greatest achievements are the epiphanies of immigrant descendants. Seven of the 39 men who signed the Constitution were immigrants, as were 3 of the original Supreme Court Justices and 4 of the first 6 Secretaries of the Treasury. But even more importantly, immigrants are our neighbors, our co-workers, and our family members. One of four people living in the USA are immigrants or children of immigrants. So stand up and be counted. Son, Daughter, Friend... Make a statement.
